GRHC Foundation Hosts Ninth Annual
Golf Outing
Grant Regional Health Center Foundation held its Ninth Annual Benefit Golf Outing on Saturday, June 11, at the Lancaster Country Club. A record one hundred and forty four golfers were on hand to enjoy the day and support the foundation.
The proceeds from this year’s event will be used to purchase a new cardiac rehab monitoring system. This system helps the cardiac staff adjust the intensity of the patient’s activities as they deliver a safe and progressive exercise program. Cardiac rehabilitation can help people achieve their highest potential for physical and psychological well being through exercise and education
The proceeds are a result of player registration fees and sponsorships by local and regional businesses. Corporate sponsors for this year’s event included:

This year’s Flight Sponsors were Dr. Ron & Barb Reschly, Fincor Solutions, Dubuque Radiology, Majestic View Dairy and Wright Medical Group.
The winners for this year’s outing included Division I: Rick Benson, Stephen Crane, Marc Thorstenson and Ryan VanDeHey with a score of 61. With a score of 57, the first place team in Division II was Chuck Kirsch, Sonya Kirsch, Brian Kirsch and Kevin Kirsch.
There were many special events included with this year’s golf outing. Mound View Motors sponsored a 2011 Aveo for a hole in one on hole #1. Eastman Cartwright, Inc. sponsored a 50 foot putt in which one lucky golfer, Sonya Kirsch tried for $5000. Ace Lending sponsored a Sink or Swim event in which golfers had the opportunity to sink a 10 yd. chip in a pool of water – Don Tranchita was the lucky winner of a gift certificate to Chula Vista. The Foundation also hosted an “Aim Against the Arrows” event – Shannon Farrey and Evan VanDeHey went up against almost every team and proved to be a wonderful addition to the outing.
There were numerous raffle prizes distributed before the steak dinner and the event concluded with a live auction, hosted by Pat McNamara. Live auction items included:
- A golf cart donated by the family of Vince Tranchita.
- A Play and Stay Package donated by Nicole Clapp.
- A Brewers Package donated by the Tony Bausch Family.
- A Golf Club and Accessory Package assembled by Lancaster Country Club, Jen Rutkowski and Jody Bartels.
- A Potosi Get Away donated by assorted Potosi businesses.
- Four flats of fresh picked strawberries from Vesperman Farms.
The entire day was a wonderful success. The outing served as a venue to offer thanks to the Tranchita Family for Vince’s years of service to Grant Regional Health Center. After awarding his family with a memorial recognition plaque, they in turn presented the Foundation with a $50,000.00 donation to go towards future projects. Grant Regional Health Center Foundation is extremely grateful for such generosity.
The Golf Outing is one activity the foundation sponsors to fulfill its mission of fostering good will and encouraging financial support for Grant Regional Health Center.
