Specially trained laboratory and radiology technologists provide the testing and imaging services necessary for physicians to diagnose and treat our patients. Various lab and imaging tests for both inpatients and outpatients are performed at Grant Regional Health Center.
In August 2006, Grant Regional Health Center became the first hospital in Grant County to revolutionize its diagnostic image technology. The new Picture Archive and Communication System (PACS) is a software program that converts x-rays to digital images. It changed the way physicians view patient images at Grant Regional—instead of waiting for film to be processed and then viewing the film at a light box, physicians now have the option to view images on a CD or over the Internet.
"It produces fast results, so it speeds up the diagnostic process, improving the quality of care," says Kim Moore, radiology manager. "Most important, PACS is accurate, and while it is fast and convenient, it doesn't compromise quality in the process."
