Trevor Landon, Lancaster

Senior Year. Football.

Senior Year. Football. To Trevor Landon, those words meant everything. With his years of hard work and his love of the game – he was looking forward to an exciting season. That was until…August 27, LHS v. Cuba City - first play of the third quarter. "I saw him out of the corner of my eye coming at me," Trevor recalls. "There was no way to avoid the impact". It was an open field tackle with a direct hit to the right knee. Trevor recalled the instant pain and instant response from Grant Regional’s Athletic Trainer Dave Recker and Dr. Eric Slane. "Dave’s always been there for our team when we’ve needed him. It’s a great feeling to know we can count on him to be there," says Landon.

Trevor sustained a sprained MCL (Medial Collateral Ligament) along with hyperextension injury to the knee. Lancaster High School is one of four schools that benefits from Grant Regional’s Athletic Training services. Because of this program, Trevor was treated immediately by Dr. Slane and Dave Recker at the game and again the next day in the Saturday Morning Sports Medicine Clinic.  He immediately began physical therapy three times a week.  Strengthening exercises, laser and ultrasound therapy, in addition to a knee brace allowed him to return to practice within a week and back in the game two weeks later. "In football, there are no guarantees – it’s a tough sport," says Dave Recker. "But when you see that determination in the players’ eyes…we want to get them back in the game just as much."
