"I will walk. I will walk again!" These words echoed in Leah Sanson's mind following her tragic car accident in July 2008. "Life can change in the blink of an eye," says Leah, who was given only a 5 percent chance to ever walk again.

A fun day at Blackhawk Lake with friends ended up costing her almost a year, spent enduring hospital stays, surgeries and a very long road to recovery. Through hours and hours of rehabilitation, she was determined to gain back her mobility and the function of her legs, arms and hands.

Leah Sanson in Rehab"I can't say enough about the rehab staff at Grant Regional Health Center," Leah says. "Being here every day for months on end, they became like family to me. There were days when I just didn't think I could do it. I didn't know if I had the strength to keep going—but they believed in me and never once let me give up hope. And the new rehab area opened during my treatment—so that was definitely an added inspiration to come to everyday! Thanks to rehab's care and expert treatment, I'm headed to college in Madison this fall…on my own! Look out world…here I come!"

Leah's goal was to walk across the stage without crutches at graduation to receive her diploma. Because of her dedication and strong will, she not only walked across the stage and received her diploma, she also received a standing ovation!
