Brokopp Family Scholarship

“This scholarship is being established by Marilyn and Charles Brokopp, Donna and Arlen Brokopp and Arlene Brokopp-Robson and Ken Robson at the Grant Regional Health Center (GRHC) Foundation in Lancaster, Wisconsin. We wish to give back to the community through these scholarships our heart-felt appreciation for the opportunities and health services provided to our family for more than 70 years.”

Grant Regional Health Center Foundation, Lancaster, WI, will award two $2,500 healthcare scholarships on behalf of the Brokopp Family to successful applicants in 2023.

Eligibility to apply: Those eligible to apply include individuals beginning or continuing their enrollment in a healthcare program at a fully accredited two- or four-year college between late May and Fall of 2023.

Priority will be given to residents in the school districts of Cassville, Fennimore, Iowa-Grant, Lancaster, Potosi or River Ridge school districts, or children of GRHC employees residing outside of our service area, AND attending UW-Platteville, UW-Madison, or Southwest Technical College with an interest to return to Grant Regional Health Center’s workforce after completion of their education. Individuals who previously received the Brokopp Family scholarship are eligible to apply again as long as they are continuing their education. This scholarship is separate from the GRHC Foundation and GRHC Auxiliary scholarships.

A selection committee will evaluate applicants for the two - $2,500 healthcare scholarships based on their:

  • intent to pursue a career in the healthcare profession;
  • academic achievement (grades and class standing);
  • involvement in school and/or community activities;
  • commitment to their chosen field;
  • demonstrated integrity and work ethic.
Before beginning the application, please have the items listed below prepared to either upload or copy/paste into the form. The form is not capable of saving progress, all information should be completed on the first attempt.

To apply you will need: Your general information, 3 letters of recommendation, transcript, essay (see description below).

On the essay, Please state why you chose to go into the healthcare field, what you intend to do once you have received your degree, and how you think this scholarship will help you achieve this goal. Your essay is important, please take considerable time crafting this piece. It should be a reflection of you, your goals, and why you feel that you should receive the scholarship. We’re also highly interested in students wishing to return to Grant Regional Health Center’s workforce.

It is the responsibility of the applicant to make sure all necessary requirements are met and that all paperwork is submitted at the same time by the deadline. Late applications will not be accepted. If you are not selected as a recipient this year, you will receive a letter indicating this. However if you are not selected, you are still eligible to apply again in upcoming years as long as you are continuing your education.

Deadlines: Applications are due on or before: April 1, 2023 | Awards will be announced in: May, 2023 (can vary based on awards ceremonies)

Upon award of scholarship: The applicants selected to receive a scholarship in 2023 will sign an agreement with GRHC Foundation outlining the conditions for release of funds. Payment will be made after the committee receives verification/transcript that the student has successfully completed one semester of the course/program. The recipient is responsible for obtaining this verification and sending it in.
