GRHC Auxiliary Scholarship

The Grant Regional Health Center Auxiliary Scholarship offers a person, who meets the considerations herein set forth, assistance in becoming a health care professional. The scholarships are offered in the following categories:

  • 4-yr B.S. Degree Program, 2 Scholarships ($1000 each)
  • 2-yr Associate Degree Program, 2 Scholarships ($500 each)
  • 1-yr Other Health Related Program (combined group)

The Auxiliary Board of Directors, at such time as it sees fit and in its sole discretion, will grant a scholarship to a deserving applicant. The board reserves the right to deny any application with or without cause for such denial.

No scholarship will be granted or paid unless the college or school of nursing or other institution selected by the applicant is fully accredited. The scholarship check, made out to the school, will be paid after the scholarship committee receives verification that the student has successfully completed one semester of the course/program. Verification shall be made by the registrar of the recipient’s institution. The recipient is responsible for obtaining this verification. Failure to do so shall result in forfeiture of the award. If an applicant is not selected to receive a scholarship, they are eligible to reapply as long as they are attending college the following year.

Applicants must be enrolled full-time in the next semester of a 1-4 year program.

Consideration will be given to the applicant’s interest and participation in school and community activities, their reputation for integrity and morality, and reputation for being conscientious and industrious.

This statement of requirements and conditions constitutes a part of each applicant’s application and is made binding upon signing and filing of application.

Eligibility to apply (must meet A, B, or C):

(A) An applicant must be a graduate of, or a candidate for graduation, of one of the following high schools:

  • Fennimore High School
  • Lancaster High School
  • Cassville High School
  • Potosi-Tennyson High School
  • River Ridge High School (West Grant/Bloomington)
  • Iowa-Grant High School

(B) A qualified employee of Grant Regional Health Center
(C) Or be an adult who lives in the Grant Regional Health Center service area who wishes to further their education in the health care field and meets the requirements.

To apply you will need: Your general information, 3 letters of recommendation, transcript, essay (see description below).

On the essay, please state why you chose the particular major that you did, what you intend on doing with your degree when you finish school, and how you think this scholarship will help you. (This section is an important part of your application.)

Deadlines: Applications are due on or before: April 1, 2023 | Awards will be announced in: May, 2023 (can vary based on awards ceremonies)
