Grant Regional Health Center is sponsoring its 19th annual Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, September 26th. The event is offering a fun twist again this year to the traditional morning walk/run – the now evening event is moving its date up a few weeks to September 26th – and will have a GLOW theme again this year! In honor of National Physical Therapy Month, Grant Regional has sponsored this event for the past 19 years as a non-competitive fitness run/walk to promote fun and fitness in our community. This year the 5K Run/Walk or Family One Mile will begin and end at Lancaster High School with a DJ, music and lots of fun! Grant County Cancer Coalition will be selling glow necklaces and bracelets at the event. The goal of this events continues to stress the importance of exercise and physical activity and its contribution to good health…all while having FUN!

The 5K non-competitive Run/Walk will have the same route as last year. It will start at Lancaster High School at 7 p.m. and for walkers and runners, they will follow a scenic path down Elm Street, to Monroe Street, will then change slighty to Oak Street and enter the park from the north, around the park to the west then up past Woolrich Dairy, then return to the high school and the final destination with refreshments and DJ to celebrate the FINISH. The event is set to end at 9 at p.m.

Pre-registration by August 24 is required to guarantee t-shirt. The entry fee is $20.00 for adults and $12 for kids. Participants can still register after August 24 but just won't be guaranteed a t-shirt. Because we want to encourage everyone to wear the FUN Glow-In-The-Dark shirts this year – we will again offer early t-shirt pick-up on Friday, September 25 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. in the Main Lobby of the hospital and from 4-6 p.m. before the event on Saturday at the high school.

We want to encourage everyone to attend and therefore are opening the event up free to students under 18 years of age. This option does not include the signature t-shirt.

We're inviting families to participate in this event, so bring the stroller or wagon! It will begin at 7:05 p.m. just following the start of the 5K Fun Run/Walk. For those choosing the Family Mile, in an effort to ensure safety of our small participants - they will complete four laps around the high school track this year. It's all about the neon, lights and glow…so we encourage everyone to "sport your neon" - bring your glow necklaces, glow bracelets, flashlights, glow sticks, decorate your strollers! Since this isn't a competition and everyone's a winner for participating, any children participating in the Family Mile will receive a completion certificate and gold medal.

Participants can also join Grant Regional in supporting our local food pantry by bringing a non-perishable food item with you to the event. With the holidays just around the corner, it's a perfect time to donate items to the food pantry. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
