For one week every year, Grant Regional Health Center pauses to celebrate and recognize its exceptional staff of healthcare professionals – from nurses to physicians, physical therapists to support staff – who make safe, high quality, compassionate healthcare available to our surrounding communities. During this week, May 8 - 14, Grant Regional Health Center is proud to join the American Hospital Association to recognize National Hospital Week and honor the hard work, commitment and dedication of the men and women who are the heart of our hospital. Grant Regional affectionately calls the week Healthcare Week to include the many partners who help serve our patients including our primary care clinic, area clinics, EMS, medical staff, board of directors, Foundation, Auxiliary and volunteers.
This year the American Hospital Association has developed a national campaign during National Hospital Week that highlights the many contributions that hospitals make to their surrounding communities each day. Grant Regional has localized the campaign (#mygrantregional) and features stories and photos about how Grant Regional is an integral part of our community's economic health. Grant Regional Health Center provides more than just healthcare services close to home, it provides 120 full-time and 73 part-time hospital workers and supports an additional 120 jobs created indirectly through hospital purchases and employee economic activity for a total of 313 jobs. Grant Regional also offers important health education courses and health screenings, and in 2015 provided community benefits totaling $1,029,857.
National Hospital week has been a tradition since 1921 when it was introduced by the American Hospital Association. The purpose of the week is to celebrate our hospitals and to recognize the dedication of the employees that work hard to support our community. There are over 5,000 hospitals around the country, employing more than 5 million people.
Nicole Clapp, President/CEO said, "It takes many, many different types of jobs to make a hospital run smoothly." As one of the largest employers in our community, GRHC honors its employees, nearly 250 strong, with recognition and special events throughout this special week.
"People may not realize the breadth of services that are offered at Grant Regional. To have the level of services that we have here, in a community this size, is really amazing," Clapp explains. "We are very proud of our staff and the compassionate care we provide." Clapp also notes that the services and exceptional care far exceeds the walls of our building. "We place a strong value on being involved in our area communities through wellness initiatives and community events," she explains. "We are dedicated to our patients and are excited about our future expansion plans in order to bring a higher level of care to our region. And that is another reason we celebrate this week!"
