Jackie Edge Receives Honor of Rising Star Award

Monday, September 12, 2022

Each quarter, Grant Regional Health Center recognizes outstanding employees through the Rising Star program. For second quarter of 2022, Jackie Edge, CNA, EMT, received this distinguished recognition. To achieve this honor, the program’s nominees personify the remarkable patient experience and Grant Regional Health Center Values of Respect, Integrity, Professionalism, Community-Minded, Commitment, and Progressive.

The Rising Star Award is designed to recognize Grant Regional Health Center employees who exemplify the spirit of the Rising Star. The employee is productive and will possess quality in carrying out his/her responsibilities in the organization. The employee is an asset to the organization as well as his/her department. Nominations can be submitted by any visitor, patient, or employee. The Rising Star committee selects one winner each quarter from the nominations received.

Jackie’s nomination reads, “Honestly, I’m surprised Jackie has not been awarded this achievement yet for she is the very definition of rising staff. Jackie is such a blessing to not only Grant Region, but also the community. She donates so many long hours to the Lancaster community and has been Lancaster EMS Chief for so many years. At work Jackie always accepts any task with a smile on her face. I know she has body aches such as her knees, but she always put her patients first. Many days you will see Jackie walking around on med/surg with the knee-high shoes covers as she showers a patient aware of that she may get wet but never hesitates and will wear wet shoes for her shift. In the ER when we call Lancaster EMS to transfer a critical patient to a facility with higher level care, family members ask for her by name. She brings such a sense of calmness to her patients. I was also in need of Jackie’s service many years ago for an ambulance ride to Milwaukee. The moment she walked into the room I was so thankful that my child’s health and my health was in her hands. Working with her on Med/Surg I’m assured it will be a good day! In the ER I have seen many times Jackie’s warming demeanor calm a mental health patient that it would have taken many other healthcare providers to attempt. She is truly a gift to this organization and to everyone by just being in the room. She is the definition of a rising star, and I am forever grateful to have worked the last decade alongside her.”

Each individual nominated will receive a certificate, a star pin to add to their name badge, as well as a copy of their nomination submission. The winner is revealed at this ceremony and will receives a Grant Regional Health Center and Rising Star logo’d jacket; a special parking place at the staff entrance, and their photo will hang on the new display wall of the North link of the hospital.
