Kathy Landon recognized by the Department of Defense for Patriotic Support
Grant Regional Health Center supervisor Kathy Landon was recently honored by the Department of Defense for Patriotic Support.
The Wisconsin Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense (DoD) office, announced that Kathy Landon, Registration Supervisor at Grant Regional Health Center was honored on May 3rd, 2023, with a Patriot Award in recognition of her extraordinary support of her employee, Private First-Class Dylan Duvall serving in the US Army Reserves. Dylan is currently a Registration Specialist at Grant Regional Health Center, working primarily in the Emergency Department.
“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Scott Legwold, Wisconsin ESGR state chairman. Kathy Landon was nominated for being highly supportive of the US Army Reserves by Private Duvall. Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and reserve units.
Private Duvall said of Kathy Landon, “Kathy has been very supportive and understanding when it comes to me leaving for drill or any type of military leave for that matter. I try to get my orders and/or memos sent to her in advance, but there are times when it is short notice, and she is very flexible. She does a great job making sure my shifts are covered. Kathy has never been upset about me leaving as she understands that the military is a major obligation. She works well with HR to understand benefits and pay, if allowed, should be paid.”
ESGR, a DoD office, seeks to foster a culture in which all employees support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States. ESGR facilitates and promotes a cooperative culture of employer support for National Guard and Reserve service by developing and advocating mutually beneficial initiatives, recognizing outstanding employer support, increasing awareness of applicable laws and policies, resolving potential conflicts between employers and their service members, and acting as the employer’s principal advocate within DoD. Paramount to ESGR’s mission is encouraging employment of Guardsman and reservists who bring integrity, global perspective, and proven leadership to the civilian workforce.
