Biography

Abby joined Grant Regional Community Clinic in April 2015. She earned her Undergraduate from the University of Wisconsin- Madison in Kinesiology. She attended PA school also at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Wisconsin Academy of Physician Assistants.

What made you choose a career in healthcare? I have always been amazed by the human body and how it works. Plus I thrive on interacting and helping others. Physician Assistant allowed me to learn more about the human body and play a major role in helping care for patients.

Scope of practice, types of patients: Full spectrum family medicine. I see patients from 1 day old to 100 years old for acute illnesses, management of chronic issues and preventative care. I am trained to do a variety of procedures including casting, splinting, suturing, lesion removals and IUD placement. I also work with the local Athletic Trainers to help manage the ImPACT concussion clinic. I have a special interest in depression and anxiety so I do tend to see a lot of these patients.

Practice Philosophy: My goals are to make sure my patients feel like their concerns are acknowledged, they feel comfortable coming to me with their issues, and make them an active participant in their treatment. I try to explain things in an easy to understand way. Lastly, when appropriate, I think humor can be a great way to bond with my patients and form a positive association with doctor's visits.

Abby is originally from Mineral Point, Wisconsin and will always love Southwest Wisconsin! She and her husband have two beautiful daughters.

She says "I will forever be a HUGE Wisconsin Badgers fan as often demonstrated by my badge and stethoscope covering. In my free time, I like to knit. I have donated several infant hats to our OB department. Lastly, I am a huge science fiction person including Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Star Wars and Doctor Who." Abby sees patients on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Fridays. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 608.723.2131.
