Reiki

Reiki is a form of alternative therapy commonly referred to as “energy healing”. It emerged in Japan in the late 1800’s and it involves the transfer of universal energy from the practitioner’s palms to their patient. It involves the laying on of hands, or hovering hands, to transmit concentrated energy to the client, that is available in the environment. While the practitioner holds their hands lightly on or over the body, the transfer of energy takes place. During this time, the practitioner’s hands may be warm and tingling. Each hand position is held until the practitioner senses that the energy has stopped flowing. When the practitioner feels that the heat, or energy, in their hands has abated, they will remove their hands and may place them over a different area of the body.

The client may experience tingling, lights flashing behind their eyelids as they are closed, an overall euphoric sensation, or a rush of warmth or cool sensations. Crystals (gemstones)may be used to enhance the energy effects and type of energy transfer. The healing effects are facilitated by channeling the universal life energy known as qi, pronounced “chi.” In India, this is known as “prana.” This is the same energy used in tai chi exercise. In Reiki, it is considered the life force energy that surrounds all of us. One can expect to experience deep relaxation, reprieve from stress, and an overall sense of well-being.

Reiki is available in 30, 45 or 60 minute sessions. Price is dependent on length of session: $40, $55, or $65.
