The power to stop pain—cold

What is Iovera therapy?

Iovera technology is a part of innovative pre-surgical medical treatment. It is a minimally invasive procedure to treat peripheral nerves and provide immediate pain relief.

Who should try Iovera treatment?

This procedure is helpful if you are experiencing chronic knee pain. Pain management professionals suggest the treatment to patients who have arthritis-type knee pain. If you are undergoing knee replacement surgery, Iovera is recommended. Also, if you are suffering from osteoarthritis, ligament strains, overuse, gout or obesity, Iovera treatment is effective.

Iovera uses the body's natural response to cold to treat peripheral nerves and immediately reduce pain—without the use of drugs. Treated nerves are temporarily stopped from sending pain signals for a period of time, followed by a restoration of function. Iovera:

  • Delivers cryoanalgesia directly to the site of pain.
  • Provides immediate and long-lasting non-opioid pain relief.
  • Relieves for postsurgical knee replacement pain and chronic knee pain for up to 90 days.

It is important to note that the Iovera therapy does not treat the underlying cause of the pain. Timely remediation is necessary to address and treat the cause of pain.

How does Iovera treatment work?

The treatment works by applying targeted cold to a peripheral nerve. A precise cold zone is formed under the skin—cold enough to immediately prevent the nerve from sending pain signals without causing damage to surrounding structures. The effect on the nerve is temporary, providing pain relief until the nerve regenerates and function is restored.

Iovera treatment does not include an injection of any substance, opioid or other drug. The effect of this treatment is immediate and can last up to 90 days.
